Directed by Ava DuVernay. 2016. 100 minutes. This Academy-Award winning documentary film explores the "intersection of race, justice and mass incarceration in the United States." The film is titled after the 13th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution which freed the slaves and prohibited slavery. Best Documentary in 2016 Academy Awards.

7:00 PM " The Visitor " Directed by Tom McCarthy. 104 minutes. Award-winning, moving drama about a college professor who travels to New York City to attend a conference and finds Tarek Khalil, a Syrian musician, and Zainab, a Senegalese street vendor, living in his apartment. He sympathizes with the situation of the illegal immigrants and invites the couple to stay with him. "A heartfelt human drama that sneaks up and floors you."
