The three films being shown are:
“Whose Streets?” directed by Sabaah Folayan and Damon Davis, will be shown at 1:30 p.m. A documentary that looks at race relations and the Ferguson, Mo., uprising. A discussion on the film will be led by Gloria Matlock, educator with Racial Justice Rising Organization.
“I Am Not Your Negro,” directed by Raoul Peck, will be shown at 4:15 p.m. A documentary examining the history of race relations from the 1960s to today. It’s narrated by Samuel L. Jackson. A discussion on the film will be led by Momodou Sarr, a teacher consultant and co-director of language, culture and diversity for the Western Massachusetts Writing Project.
“Wind River,” directed by Taylor Sheridan, will be shown at 7:30 p.m. A thriller about an FBI agent (Elizabeth Olsen) who works with a game tracker (Jeremy Renner) to investigate the murder of a girl on a Native American reservation. A discussion on the film will be led by Strong Oak Lefebvre, head of the Visioning BEAR Organization, which deals with issues of sexual violence and abuse nationally.
The event will feature a 6:30 p.m. dinner prepared by Stone Soup Café with vegan and gluten-free options. There is a suggested donation of $4 to $10 for the dinner, but no one will be turned away.
Free child care is available.
