Apollo 13 (PG) (1995) directed by Ron Howard (Happy Days) written by Astronaut Jim Lovell (Commander Apollo 13), author Jeffrey Kluger (Lost Moon) and screen writer Williams Boyal Jr. (Cast Away). Starring Tom Hanks (Big) Bill Paxton (Twister) and Kevin Bacon (Footloose), Gary Sinise (Forrest Gump) and Ed Harris (The Truman Show). The film tells the true story of the harrowing flight of Apollo 13 and its lunar mission in a thriller of heroic proportions. Adored by critics the film was nominated for 9 Academy Awards and won for best film editing and best sound.
Billy Madison (PG13) (1995) written by and starring Adam Sandler (The Water Boy) starring Darren McGavin (A Christmas Story), Bridgett Wilson-Sampras (Last Action Hero), Bradely Whitford (West Wing), Norm MacDonald (Dirty Work), Josh Mostel (City Slickers), and featuring Steve Buscemi (Fargo) and Chris Farley (Tommy Boy). With a who's who of SNL cameos this was Adam Sandler break out hit after SNL and Air Heads. To inherit his father's fortune 27-year-old ne'er do well Billy must go back to school and pass each grade and compete in an academic Decathalon. While hijinks and hot for teacher adventures ensue. Panned by critics at the box office, it is now widely considered one of Sandler's best works and has a developed a cult following.
