Presenting "Hearts & Hands" a documentary by Pat Ferrara. A social history of the important role played by women and quilts in the 19th century, discussion to follow with former librarians Bambi Miller & Mary Boehmer. Before "Hearts and Hands" no quilt or history book ever revealed the important role played by women and quilts in the nineteenth century's great movements and events - industrialization, the abolition of slavery, the Civil War, the westward expansion and pioneer experience, temperance and, finally, suffrage. Within the stunning, photograph-laden pages nineteenth-century American life - as it was experienced and recorded by women - comes alive.
