Fat Bradley/Luke DeRoy Trio
Fat Bradley delivers a fresh take on funk with engaging compositions and pulsing groove. It is our duty to move that booty.
Luke DeRoy is a singer and guitarist from Amherst, MA. He began playing at age 14 on an acoustic guitar given to him by his father. After being rejected from his senior year talent show, DeRoy found new inspiration. He pursued music at Holyoke Community College, where he found jazz and a creatively wealthy community along with it. This new discovery had an immense influence on the 18 year-olds-style and innovation. He was accepted to Berklee College of Music in 2013 and studied there for two years. In his hometown in 2015, he met Ian Haas (percussion) and Ryan Fess (bass guitar), and around his songwriting they ultimately formed The Luke DeRoy Trio. The band is currently recording songs for an album.
Ian Haas is 21 years old from Rockland, MA, and also plays with Hip-Hop/jazz group Mixed Race Mixtape and the R&B/Funk set-up Ballads & Softcore Porn. Ryan Fess is a 20 year old freelance jazz bassist and park ranger from Plainville, MA. Both have studied jazz at University of Massachusetts Amherst.
DeRoy moves for an intriguingly organic sound in the digital age, naming Bob Dylan and Ella Fitzgerald as standards, with lyrical content and harmony at the core of his character. Appearing with many associated acts, the bands love of community is apparent, often sharing the stage with one or more local acts, sometimes for a song, others for the whole night.
This theme of social inclusion plays to DeRoys eternal vision to use music as the vehicle in which we drive forward as a society, endorsing the message of equality and togetherness.
