Mohawk Trail State Forest famously features the tallest trees in the entire Northeast: magnificent white pines that can reach over 170 feet high. Come marvel at our green giants. Learn what makes these trees special to the environment and American history. Park outside the state forest entrance gate on Route 2. Meet at the Nature Center just inside the park. Total walking distance, 2 miles. Total time, about 2 hours. Easy to moderate walk with one gradual hill. Wear appropriate clothing for the weather and comfortable and sturdy footwear.
