Amateur Radio Technician License
T/Th, 10/9-10/25, 6:00-9:00 pm, 6 sessions. This class will prepare students to pass the test for an Amateur Radio Technician license. An FCC-issued amateur radio license allows you to operate two-way radios to communicate with other licensed amateurs in your own town or in foreign countries. You can use commercial equipment or equipment you design and build yourself. Obtaining a license requires knowledge of rules and regulations, as well as some knowledge of radio science and technology. The rules and regulations can be learned by rote memorization. But we will emphasize the science and technology, in the belief that rules and regulations are easier to learn when the reasons for them are understood. The class will meet two evenings a week for three weeks, and a Technician Class License Exam will be administered during the final evening session. Location is GCC East Building (room to be determined) The $15 ARRL, the national association for Amateur Radio registration fee is for the license examination. If you have already paid the $15 examination to GCC previously or plan to audit the class without taking the exam, please contact us at non-credit@gcc.mass.edu or (413) 775-1661 to process your waiver. There is no fee for the class. http://greenfieldcc.3dcartstores.com/Amateur-Radio-Technician-License_p_1413.html
