Libraries on the Big Screen Film Series: Free For All
The Montague Center Branch Library is hosting a two-part film series all about libraries and the people who protect them! We kicked things off on Wednesday, March 11, with a screening of the award-winning documentary The Librarians. This powerful film looked at the growing number of book bans across the country and follows librarians who stand up for everyone’s right to read, learn, and think freely. Now, we’ll wrap up the series on Wednesday, March 18, with Free For All: The Public Library, a film that explores the history and importance of public libraries and the role they play in our communities. All are welcome—join us for these thoughtful and inspiring films! About The Film: Free for All: The Public Library tells the story of the quiet revolutionaries who made a simple idea happen. From the pioneering women behind the “Free Library Movement” to today's librarians who service the public despite working in a contentious age of closures and book bans, meet those who created a civic institution where everything is free and the doors are open to all. (Description from PBS). Free For All: The Public Library is rated TV-14 (generally recommended for audiences ages 14 and up).
