Pioneer Valley Jewish Film Festival: "A Bag of Marbles"
Based on Joseph Joffo's enduring autobiographical novel, "A Bag of Marbles" tells the story of two young Jewish brothers in German-occupied France who, with a mind-boggling mix of mischievousness, courage, and ingenuity, will be forced to fend for themselves in order to survive the enemy invasion and try to bring their family back together. In 1941 Paris, with the merciless persecution of Jews underway, young Joseph and Maurice are forced to flee their home and make their way to the "free zone" in Southern France. Suspenseful and heartwarming, the film features stunning scenery, immaculate period detail, and an ensemble of outstanding performances.
